Branch of engineeer

In today’s world, almost everything you see and use are products of specialized engineering of different fields. Engineering is a degree course that will never grow out of fashion and demand. In fact, it is growing to be more and more prominent as our time and age is making use of technology more than ever before. Thinking of becoming an engineer in the future? Find out more about the different engineering courses offered in most universities on a degree level of education.

Civil Engineering
Civil engineering is a professional engineering discipline that helps build many of the important things in our lives which we tend to take for granted, such as the construction of dams and power stations that provide us the electricity that we can’t live without, paths and roads in which we travel on every day, bridges and also water and sewage treatment plants that provides us with safe water supplies – all these require the expertise of a civil engineer.

Mechanical Engineering
Mechanical engineering plays an important role in ensuring safety, enjoyment and the overall quality of life in our world today. Mechanical engineers basically deal with machines. Some examples of products and processes developed by mechanical engineers include engines and control systems for automobiles and aircraft, electric power generation plants, life-saving medical devices, and consumer products ranging from air conditioners to the exercising machines that you use to build your muscles in the gym.
Basically if something moves or uses any form of energy, a mechanical engineer was probably involved in the process of its design and/or production.

Engineering Management
Engineering management is a field that concentrates on the application of engineering principles for the effective planning and efficient operations of managing manufacturing or industrial operations. In simpler terms, an engineering management is a specialized form of management that qualifies individuals to successfully lead engineering personnel and projects.
Engineering managers are the ones who apply engineering principles for business practices.

Chemical engineering
Chemical engineering is the branch of engineering that is concerned with the design, construction, and operation of machines and plants that perform chemical reactions to solve practical problems and make useful products. In short, chemical engineering is applied chemistry. It is concerned with the ways in which raw materials are changed into useful and commercial end products. Chemical engineers are responsible for the conception and design of processes for the purpose of production, transformation, and transportation of materials.

Electronic and Electrical Engineering
Electronic and electrical engineering is the broadest and most dynamic of all engineering. It’s a field of engineering that deals with the study and application of electricity, electronics, and electromagnetism. Electronic and electrical engineers help design, develop, test and supervise the manufacturing of electrical and electronic products. Some example of the products are: broadcast and communication systems, lighting and wiring in buildings, automobiles, navigation systems, power generating devices…and many more.

Engineering degree courses are offered in almost every university – be it in Malaysia or abroad. It’s a growing industry – hence, students who specialize in any of the above engineering fields have very little to worry about unemployment. Think through every field and see which one interests you most!
